Pumps from CP Pump Systems for chlorine alkali electrolysis plant in the south of France

15 magnetic drive pumps for a new membrane electrolysis plant in Fos-Sur-Mer

As part of a major project, the renowned German chemical plant manufacturer Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz (CAC) awarded the contract for the supply of magnetic drive chemical process pumps from the MKPL series to CP Pumpen. Due to a high-quality corrosion-, permeate- and vacuum-resistant PFA lining, the hermetically sealed pumps from Zofingen in Switzerland meet the high requirements for the manufacture of chlorine.

The pumps are used in the new diaphragm electrolysis plant of a leading manufacturer of PVC based in Fos-Sur-Mer in the south of France, which is scheduled to commence operation in 2024. The plant produces chlorine, caustic soda and hydrogen by means of the electrolysis of sea salt. The chlorine produced is used in the manufacture of vinyl chloride monomer, the basic substance for the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The plant, which is equipped with environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient technology, will replace the existing diaphragm electrolysis plant.

CP Pump Systems is proud to have been selected as the supplier for this demanding and sustainable project, entirely in keeping with the company motto: ‘cleaner pumps, cleaner planet’!
