Self-priming and robust - MSKS, sealless, magnetically coupled centrifugal pump made of solid plastic

Today's blog is the second in a series of three short presentations of sealless, magnetically coupled pumps from CP pump systems' PTFE and PVDF full polymeric range. Just like all CP pumps, the full polymeric pumps are designed for demanding pumping tasks and high requirements of the chemical and numerous other industries.

The MSKS is a single-stage centrifugal pump with a wide range of applications and uses. As a self-priming pump, the MSKS with its side channel impeller with metal core can handle up to 25% gas content. Ideally used for unloading tasks of highly corrosive media with high value. It covers a range of 0.2 to 2.5 m3/h and a head of 34 m and can be used between -20°C and +80°C.

The pump's housing is made of thick, vacuum-resistant, corrosion- and diffusion-resistant solid polymer. The use of PTFE with carbon filler means that no electrostatic charges are generated on the housing. The MSKS is alternatively available in virginal PTFE or PVDF. The SSiC bearing is very robust, solid and capable of withstanding high loads. The monoblock version saves installation space and mobile installation is also possible.

Due to the fact that the pump has no shaft feedthrough, its diffusion and corrosion resistance and robust design it has a wide range of applications. It is often used for batch discharges of fragrances and flavors. A large and leading manufacturer of these high-quality products has been using the MSKS primarily as a mobile pump on various process reactors for discharge for years.

Operational reliability is also increased by the fact that the MSKS are insensitive to incorrect direction of rotation due to the bearing arrangement (plain and thrust bearings are positively locked and self-centering with polygon anti-rotation devices). In addition, they feature a bump ring protection, which prevents damage to the containment can. The metal- and eddy-current-free containment can, reduces energy requirements while still providing sufficient protection against corrosion attack.

Special applications that are also covered by the self-priming MSKS are the pumping of hydrofluoric acid (HF). Here the MSKS, like the other models in CP's full polymer range, is characterized by the use of a very thick-walled housing. Standard in PFTE/carbon, alternatively with PTFE virginal or PVDF.

In next blog, we will introduce you to the MSKPP peripheral gear pump. Stay tuned.
